How Megsoft put Seaboard Marine's cargo tracking in its customers' pockets

Seaboard Marine provides direct, regular ocean service between the United States and the Caribbean Basin, Central and South America. Megsoft developed the Android and iOS versions of its main customer app, and took it from development and beta testing to publication in both app stores. The app is still live in both stores in 2026.

Background

Shipping customers plan around ocean schedules: when to book, when a ship departs and when their cargo will be ready for release. Seaboard Marine provides direct, regular service between the United States and the Caribbean Basin, Central and South America.

The engagement

Seaboard Marine engaged Megsoft to develop the Android and iOS versions of its main mobile app for customers. Megsoft accompanied the company from development and beta testing to the app's publication in both stores.

The app

The app supports customers throughout the ocean transportation process, from planning a booking to preparing for their cargo's release at destination.

Built once, for both platforms

Both versions were built from one shared cross-platform codebase, with a managed distribution service for beta testing and releases.

The challenge

A shipping customer's questions are practical: where is my cargo, when can I ship, when will it be released, and who do I call.

The problem was not the answers themselves. It was putting them in customers' hands, on both major mobile platforms.

Where is my cargo

Customers need an up-to-date status of each shipment from its latest transaction.

When can I ship

Booking depends on the next available departure from each port.

When will it arrive

Booked cargo has to be tracked by vessel to prepare for its release at destination.

Who do I call

Customers need the nearest office, at home or abroad.

Approach and solution

Megsoft carried the app through every step to the stores, with one codebase behind both platforms.

Solution highlights

Results

Seaboard Marine's customers got its main app on both platforms, and the app is still live today.

The same app, with the same services, is in the App Store and Google Play in 2026, published by Seaboard Marine.

Where the app stands today

Still in customers' hands

More than ten years after it was first described on Megsoft's site, the Seaboard Marine app is still live in both stores, with the same promise: cargo tracking by equipment and by vessel, port schedules, the latest news and a worldwide office search.

Its App Store listing shows version 3.1.41, released in August 2026.

Do your customers still call to ask where their shipment is?

If the answers your customers need already live in your systems, they can live in your customers' pockets too, on every platform they use.

Bring us the questions your customers keep calling about.

We will work through them with your team: map where the answers live today, decide what belongs in the app, and set out a practical path from concept to both app stores.
